Assuming its a balloon, how can any radar detect
it? 
Those army wont dare to release any news if they are not sure of
nothing. Who wouldnt want to cover their own ass?

the UFO sighting in NY, an author published his books some time ago
claiming UFOs will appear over New York on 13 Oct 2010. And this is
exactly what happen.
It really brings me to think of this incident as a viral
advertisement. A viral ad, in my own word, is something that gets
everyone talking about it and linking it to a certain product. In
this case, maybe its the author's book.
That author's book was meant to be talking about some prophecy
thing, so if there's no balloon in the sky, who would buy his
books? Now that some UFOs really appeared, people will be flocking
to his books and read what other prophecys he has come up with!
LOL all the way to the bank eh?
At least someone need to come out and clarify with it.
What I mean even if the US intelligent keep quiet, how about
those domestic/international flights? I am not sure whether any
pilots ever saw it on their radar system or not. Taking into
account of the heavy air traffic around the world.
Anyway, if true, then UFO coming to meet the humans!
