For a military or uniformed service personnel, when he is
wearing his non-combat uniforms, he must wear all his awards on his
chest as part of his uniform.
There maybe exceptions, such as some foreign awards that the
government has approved for the person to receive, but may not
require the person to display as part of the uniform.
Ribbons are worn on non-formal uniforms, while the medals in its
original size are worn on parade uniforms, and miniature sized
medals are worn with formal dining uniforms.
Retired military and uniformed personnels are allowed to wear their
awards in their formal civilian dress on formal occassions.
Most of these medals are worn on the upper left breast, except for
some distinguished medals that are required to be worn around the
neck, or as a separate piece to be worn with a sash but officially
designated as to how it is to be worn.
