Of perhaps more relevance to us in Asia 61 years and 2 days ago
on June 4 1942 the US Navy, fought and destroyed the Kido Butai or the 1st Carrier Striking
Force of the Imperial Japanese Navy at the Battle of Midway,
sinking 4 carriers and 1 heavy cruiser in exchange for losing 1
carrier and 1 destroyer, effectively turning the tide of the War in
the Pacific and signalling the beginning of the end for Imperial
Japans war effort.
