i think its hard to help it.
i do try to notice cabs which are driven very "nicely" but alas,
they are outnumbered by the cabs which zip around traffic, either
go too slow or tailgate, change lanes without indicator lights,
etc...
there is no denying that other vehicles on the road perform just as
bad too, and that is how we also like to generalise that merz are
horrible, women drivers are horrible, etc.
cabs, being so prominent on the roads, and with so many of them,
tend to attract the most attention. and of course, human beings
tend to remember the bad things more than the good.
i think as fellow road users and passengers, we should encourage
good driving by cabbies by rewarding it, by praising specific
examples or reminding cabbies to drive safely, sending letters to
cab companies and papers when cabbies drive well, instead of only
complaining. cab companies could also reward such drivers
too.
it is a tough balancing act, added with the complex prisoners'
dilemma. but for the sake of everyone's safety and sanity, let's
all contribute to making our roads and public transport safer!
