Is it true PES C (Term) NSF pass BMT and gotten vocation post to unit go medical review if medical board give Term PES again and again your unit will not promote you not because you poor perfomance but because you no perm PES so they condemned you until you ORD.

it's a myth...
they don't care whether it's temp or perm. it's just simply by 2 terms, namely combat-fit and non-combat-fit.

1st, rank promotion is time-based and conduct-based.
e.g. combat-fit = minimum 7mths* for LCP, 12mths* + IPPT pass for CPL.
non-combat-fit = minimum 7mths* for LCP, 15mths* for CPL.

* = time starting from date of enlistment + passed BMT (PTE rank).

2nd, when under proper procedure and no admin lapse, the chief clerk will generate a list of personnel to recommend for promotion due to the above 2 criterias, then pass the work to the manpower clerk, then he email your supervisor-in-charge for approval.
3rd, if he approved, you promote. if he don't, you lan lan suck thumb.

so in the end, it's your supervisor-in-charge who's playing your rank, provided that there is no admin lapse from manpower branch.

Even if Excersise induced Asthma? My brother had PES B - he same condition as me but he said it was childhood so they didnt worry too much about him. My cousin also say if you declare as childhood they wont mind.

Childhood asthma can be Pes A as well. Can get into guards as long as you are A or B.

Thanks. How exactly do they select guards? Because my cousin said it was rubbish the way they do it - like just pick the top fittest of each company or something?

1st, let's say that vocational postings are usually at random. the only thing you can do is this. when in tekong BMT, there's a monthly PC (platoon officer-in-charge) 1-to-1 personal interview to jot down notes in your personal military booklet. during that private interview, you can only express interest to him on the vocation/ formation you interested in, but please be informed that there's no guarantee/ promise whatsoever.

2nd, even if after tekong BMT finished, you may not be posted to guards unit immediately afterwards in the 1st instance. next, you are usually randomly posted to any other vocational courses such as signaller/ combat medic/ technician/ transport...etc. courses. then during the vocational course, you still got chance to express interest again to be posted to guards unit after the vocational training since a guards unit needs medics, drivers, signallers, recce troopers...etc. to function as a unit too.

3rd, vocation postings is they choose, not you choose. final decision you have no say at all...

Hi, will appreciate if anyone could advise or if you had gone through it.

I was a PES A Nsf in an Infantry unit. Currently, I had served 3 ICTs and the upcoming 4^th is in December. In April, I was downgraded permanently to PES C9L9. I have been calling up NS.sg and all advises me to report to my unit and it’s up to their discretion if I would be re-vocationalise. Last that I checked with my unit, my vocation is still an Infantry soldier.

So my unit has the discretion to remain me as combat ready and I will continue to be an Infantry soldier even when I am downgraded to C9L9? Isn’t this ridiculous?

C9L9 is a non-combat fit PES grade:
C9: All servicemen not required to take IPPT.
L9: Able to bear firearms and protect themselves, others and property. Can be deployed in Combat Support vocations in Main Support Area, and/or Combat Service Support vocations of Brigade HQ and above.

1) Send/ call [email protected]/ 1800-3676767 to lodge an official report/ appeal/ complaint. Each official email sent to them has a case ID reference number.

2) In-pro for ICT as per normal. On 1st day, immediately report sick with your C9L9 medical certificate to get Att B (Fit for Light Duties) or other excuses first. Next, find S1 Manpower Officer/ Chief Clerk to settle this as re-vocation is an administrative matter.

there is a reason why they never revocationalise you... Cos once they revocationalise you, they will have to find some vocation suitable for you and maybe have to send you on course (eg CQ course etc). so as to fit you into that new vocation and they might have to transfer you out.... and for those reservist, do you think you are willing to attend these course which may last one or two month?

So for the higher command, they will just simply retain you as the same vocation/unit, but since you are C9L9, you will be excuse from the major exercise etc.... So when your buddies go chiong sua or live firing, you will most likely be sitting inside the office helping to do some paper work or helping out somewhere else, or helping in some admin job at range/live firing area etc... Just go back to ICT and tell your officers that you are now C9L9 and you will be excused from those training... So basically just idle in the camp or helping out in some admin job.. So even if you are still infantry soldier, you will not be joining the training etc...

One of my platoon mates got Downgraded to Pes E perm (from Pes B) and he also never get revocationalised. He still report for the ICT but since he is Pes E, he is only helping in the admin job in the office most of the time... When we go for training, he sit inside office surf net, read newspaper etc... and everyday he got to go home...

Thank you, EAC. I figure I will do that, definitely going to in-pro for the ICT, report to my platoon as usual, then join them in the usual infantry road march. Once it's settled down, I will look for my S1.

I am betting that they will remain me as the same. That's the way my PC and unit functions. I am a 3rd sgt btw.

One issue puzzles me, I have read on C9L9 being a non-combact fit PES. However, why is a non-combat still able to bear arms and be deployed outfield? Isn't this a discrepency?

A rifle-trained/ weapon-trained military personnel will still be able to bear arms for self-protection and self-defence in backend/ rear areas such as base camps and HQs. Since you can't fight in the frontline, the least you can do is to play a supporting role.

I am a NSMan with PES status C9L3. Unit expects "no one to be excused" from field training like section movement (even though we don't run) and some POI training.

I just need to know if the training is in line with any SAF directives or regulations for supposely non combat PES.
