I Can't Believe This is Singapore!

For those of you who've been following my threads, you will realise I'm in Shanghai but I've a car in Singapore.

My friend, who has been driving my car, just notified me that he did not receive any notifications from LTA to renew the road tax...after the expiry date! Sigh...

My wife got the phone number from the LTA website and called the number...to find that it has no means of reaching to a human operator! At least here in Shanghai, I can always get a human on the other side to talk to! It was a frustrating experience trying to find out what we can do.

I need advice right now. I believe LTA has already updated the address of the car to that of my friend or my sister in Singapore (neither of whom received any correspondence from LTA). But the urgent need right now is to pay off the road tax...which was due 28 Feb!!!

HELP! I can't believe this can happen in Singapore, land of ultra-efficiency, highly-praised by the Shanghainese!

not sure if this helps, but i called LTA recently too and managed to talk to a human. did ur wife hear something like “press 0 to talk to an operator?”

It has been years since Singapore had adapted the machine operated answering services. But do always have an operator which you can talk to. Please call during office hours. In your case you can draft an e-mail to LTA to explain your situation, stating whatever you reasons to be.
I am sure the service officer will be more than willing to assist you.

actually alot of advantages for online registering lah

- student no need travel, so mah fan, waste time oso.
- no need pay for data entry since student serve as data-entry for free
etc.
