I went online to check for my Progress Package eligibility when my friends told me that I should received a letter.

I was expecting $100.

Alas, the PP website said i am not eligible. I was dumbfounded.

I went to mindef website and foudn out the reason,

The 40th Anniversary NS Bonus will be given only to NSFs and NSmen who are Singapore citizens. This is in line with the Progress Package and past surplus sharing exercises.

Want PR to serve because they say PR enjoyed economic benefits of Singapore and should repay to the nation.

Excuse me, I am an economic migrant, I brought money INTO Singapore and even got a letter personally signed by the then Ministry of Trade. Who enjoyed economically?

I served their NS and now they tell me this. No $100 for me.

Back earlier this year when the "current PM" (whom i will not mention names) declared the package... he said to recognise ppl who have served NS.

Days after, the papers explain who will get Progress Package. I remember very clearly it stated, All who have served NS and NS Men wil get either $100 or $400 or $100/300 depending on their service status.

Note the word "ALL".

Now they say "Singapore Citizen".

Now i get it, Progress Package received on May 1. Election May 6. PRs not eligible for Progress Package. PRs not allowed to vote.

Hmm... i smell some conincidence very coincidental

Xcert SG

So why are U still a PR and not citizen?

U are enjoying the freedom to pack up and go back to whichever country U are from...so that 100 bucks is actually a small price to pay.

Ponders SG

Wah... even after I already bring money into singapore.

Serve the NS.

Now the locals chasing me out.

Anyway.. i am already back. Not in SG anymore.

^tamago^ SG

it's not cos of ur effort or ur contribution. it's about whether ur vote counts. Mr. Green

but i pity u. it's damn realistic lah.... i'm also on the same boat as u, though is cos of age... Confused

darknessfall SG

huh? so what is your status now? Spore PR but staying in Malaysia? Or you gave up the PR?

Ponders SG

Somemore I did not chao keng NS.

I was in combat vocation and did not play tricks to served NS easily.

Wah... really... i am very pissed now.

No $100 nevermind.. I will not earn the other $300 then.

Not going to serve my reservist!!!

PR serving NS is not a recognisable effort.

but Singaporeans who served NS thru chao keng means still entitled to $100.

duotiga83 SG

i say liao...gahment squeeze your talent until dry dry......

Ponders SG

Still PR but not staying in Malaysia or Singapore.

Workign overseas.

And what made you think I am Malaysian? haah

Ponders SG

Errm.. enough to get PR.

The $1million is the "official" sum for economic migrant.

But there are unpublished criteria which changes from time to time one. Case by Case.
