help!! how? what is this about? it says i'm required to bring
everything + stay in.. confinement?? for how long?? do i need to
bring civi clothes??
anyone from 1 guards??
guardsmen = heli borne ops right..? what shld i expect? someone
help pls.. i'm going into depression =(
5day workweek, stay in. at times maybe some night outs. should no
more confinement liao.
book in/out now can wear civilian, but usually at least
got collar t-shirt, long pants and covered shoes.
usually, tekong privates post to guards units are going to
support company. will be further send for courses if
needed/assigned, e.g. mortar platoon, ATGM platoon, pioneer
platoon. u maybe going for GCC* with the mono-intake privates 1st,
after that then going for the respective vocational course of
a support coy's platoon assigned. moreover, u will be trained
to use SAR21 rifle, hence got 300m rundown day shoot and 100m
nightshoot range. so... u r both sar21 and m16 rifle trained.
in bedok camp, u will be issued and wear green beret
1st, but since u r in guards camp and a combatant vocationalist, u
will get additional $50 on top of the typical $100 combat
allowance. (the extra $50 is even without going for GCC
1st...)
*: after going though guards conversion course (GCC), u will
then wear the khaki beret and the shoulder guards tab.
in GCC, u will have heli-rappelling, 2km coastal swim
with life jackets...etc.
in addition, u may have to go for exercise requirements under
the combat skills badge (CSB).
then like a typical infantry battalion, got ATEC stage 1 and
2...etc. officially by mindef, a guards unit is an
elite infantry battalion ("with wings and grills"). true
to its motto, 'ready to strike'. Guards are under HQ 21
Division, for it is a rapid deployment force (RDF)
division that go behind the enemy lines
