Regular Specialist to Officer

Arena SG

hi, I am a student signed on wif the Navy on the JPDS as a Naval System Specialist...
May I know whether there are chance for me to go to OCS for Officer course?
If there are, how they select us? And what's the passing rate of being selected for it? Do you guys have any idea?

|-|05| SG

when you signed? i applied this year but no answer yet.....they say late apr early may then will know......
anyway from what i checked out chances are 50% only.....and that only after the 5 year period! Twisted Evil

Mospeada SG

hi..i dun think it will be easy for you to be transferred from specialist to Officer.

only the top 5% will be selected to OCS from Specialist course

BaKa NeK0 SG

Hmmm which phase will it be then??

All u know are specialist will have 3 chances to go ocs...
First is BMT, then BSLC then ASLC....
about the percentage taken i am not sure......
Anyone to further elaborate(or to correct me Mr. Green ) on this Question

Mospeada SG

those from ASLC will join OCS during their service term...

boy, this have been a very long time ago for me man...

Arena SG

wats ASLC? so u are specialist convert to officer oso?

Arena SG

u applied to be convert to officer? so u oso under JPDS?

LaserGod SG

sign on spec then cannot change liao la
u think easy to change huh?

EXCO SG

Can anyone "in the know" tell us more? I am not sure about this matter either, but I tell my friend's to seriously consider if they want to sign on that plan. The money may be attractive, but its signing on as a specialist (Thats what is written on the plan, I have no illusions to think otherwise.) afterall, not all that worth it - If you like a career with SAF, can always try for OCS.

jos79 SG

gov job gd meh. i was in rsaf for 4 yrs but oso in the end left the place.

Arena SG

u r a female? so wats ur vocation?
And why do u wanna leave RSAF in the end?

jos79 SG

cos the management there no gd. sm more extend yr by yr. i like a perm job, not contract basis. so more the officers like to hv ppl kissing their backside. well, i dun like

Flight Cadet Officer SG

SISPEC. hmmmmm ...... Suffer In Silence Plus Extra Confinement. Twisted Evil

Only the top breed will be selected for Officer Cadet Course. Gotta be really really outstanding in SISPEC for you to be selected for OCS. Also remember to express your interest for OCS to your PC during interview.

Arena SG

I in navy leh.... no go SISPEC
btw, oustanding? maybe, maybe not...
i gotta a fren with so so results from poly, physical poor, PTP phase one, then can go OCS....

EXCO SG

All I can say is be realistic. Don’t dream about going to OCS if you have signed on for Specialist. If you get OCS, good for you, if not, thats what you signed up for anyway.

foga SG

that's something new.....
during my time, usually those damn siao on one and those ippt always gold one confirm go ocs, those siao on but not damn physical one go sispec, those, me, physical but not so siao on also get selected for sispec. one word to discribe it, siong. or maybe two words, suay.

ten cents.

kopiosatu SG

as a regular.
minimum requirement to convert to officer, 2SG.
the rest is up to ur grades, and you~

Tomahawk SG

As the rest have mentioned, chances are slim. Since u have signed up, go through the course, take up a part time degree course or apply for disruption for your full time degree study. With yur first degree, you will be selected to go through only the 2nd & 3rd phases of OCS and passed out as LTA. Get your CPT after 1 year.
But with the degree, will u still consider signing-on ?
