On page 11 of the sunday times, the header is

"pap will make s'pore a land of opportunity: pm"

My english is not powderful.

So does that mean that singapore is currently a land of NO opportunity?

freakass SG

Stop starting anti-PAP threads. If you’re not happy with the PAP, keep it tp yourself and vote for the opposition for all we care.. Just stop picking on the PAP

No. It meant Singapore is still an Island of Opportunity.

They going to expand the land mass towards MY so it becomes "a land" instead of "island".

Picking on the pap?

Its the sunday times (straits times) which wrote that. I am just trying to understand the meaning behind it and open it to a healthy discussion.

Anything wrong with that?

Its your freedom of speech to ask me to keep it to myself. But likewise, as a citizen in a democratic "first world country", I REJECT your request.

If you don't like what I type, then don't read what I type.

Simple.

Valentinoo:

Congrats! It will still be some more years before I can migrate. But if the opposition managed to win big time, I may even consider staying.

Opposition does not equate to good life.

True. Nothing is guaranteed.

But I want to see the change. To enjoy the process of change.

But anyway, back to the topic please.

Is singapore currently a land of NO opportunity?

nope.....it means that the PAP is really determined to make singapore better place for all people....look at the injected money into biological sciences......they are opening options for the sciences in singapore.......some foreign investors have already injected tonnes of money into this sector............

obviously the PAP realised that one can;t just always depend on the electronics and finance sector alone.............if something fails.....we must always have backup so that the economy will not eventually collapse due to a failure of one sector.! yeah?

gohkatkat SG

seriously speaking.....if you want to go to australia.....suit yourself......but don't say a kind SG guy never warns you.......australia is a place for whites.....unless you are white yourself....i advice you to stay in your own place..........you won;t want to know what horrible things they can do to you there.......their "white justice" is horrible......because as a student there.....i have faced horrible racism there once.....not talking about it though.......if you want to go there......all i can say is good luck!

i heard canada is more tolerating to asians....is that true????.........hmmmm.....anyway.....

Nelstar SG

I don't support PAP but neither am I for WP.

They (WP) did not mention in their publications how to improve economic situations but they do sound more sincere than some CheeOne.

opportunity is created by oneself..

on a sidenote, singapore's politics kinda gets boring

PAP shoot opposition, opposition shoot PAP, PAP sues oppo and wins election cos they are too damn good

Laughing ... its ok to face racism elsewhere..but not in ur own country! there is somethin wrong wid da system...and the CHINESE ppl here tends to look down on other RACE....so farrkk it...im off to australia...

Parka SG

Whoever wins should make it a point to create a conducive business environment and culture here. Singapore will definitely do more good with a few more Fortune 500 companies.

There can only be so much money if it's from Singapore.

nope.....i am a chinese.........i am 100% PURE chinese....with too strong a chinese looks that scared the freak of australians who SHOT me with water that very nite............wow....i will really remember that very very day............

looking back at mandarin marina......i once saw a british lady working as a waitress here in SINGAPORE dude.......she was serving me and my friend.....and we asked and greeted her.....are you okay.........how's life......you know.....in an attempt to bring things and relations closer........not like the australians......who "BARE" their face in black mistrust.....

.......not all people hang around with that mentality that all people are bad............unforutanetely i met with some rough thugs there who "BENT" their principles..............anyway good luck is all i can say.....don't regret it if you ever get trampled.........

anyway i shan't talk further....you are welcomed to rebut me in any way.....be it curses or scowls.......for i am an "educated" english who's tongue cuts very sharply when needed......yet i am looked upon as though i don't understand english........

you should understand what i say ........good luck as usual.......goodbye friend......or should i rather say .....singaporean........

Fatum SG

not more tolerant ... just that Canadians don't show it out like the aussies ... it's more of what I call "stealth racism" ... behind the smiles and the greetings, daggers lurks ..... and if you wander into the wrong bar, things can get awfully nasty very quickly too .... but I'm not talking about it either ... Laughing

of course, in some cities like vancouver or calgary, asians already outnumber the ang mohs in many areas ... so the ang mohs suffers a kind of reverse racism of sorts ... Mr. Green

gohkatkat SG

impressive......you speak with a sparkling brillance that interests me alot.....must have been alot of damage also huh...........anyway hug hug lah...........hope you are okay....because i am still recovering from my pain................ Crying or Very sad [/img]
