hey i'm due for interview on next friday for pilot selection test. i've passed my compass test.. for me its quite straightforward, i liked military as a career and being part of air force is my dream, as any vocation is fine for me. I am very keen of being a WSO but can I know in detail the trainings? Also, i haf pretty decent results in my A levels, should i proceed to pursue my degree first or sign on now? What's the main difference? I'll be pleased if someone were to answer my qns!

U can sign on now, but if u become pilot, u cannot go uni till quite late, like when ur 26 yr old or so. U can sign on other vocation and they will also sponsor ur uni under LSA scheme, but other vocations can go uni much earlier.

I assume u are April JC batch? Cos if u are, they schedule u for interview quite early. For me, they told me to call them back only after I get into OCS. Maybe cos my A Levels are horrendous haha.

Just noe that the pilot bond is 10 yrs excluding trng (abt 2.5 yrs), while other vocations are like 4 yr bonds or sthg. I'm not very sure if its 4 or 6 or what. If u want to study engineering in uni, u can sign on AEO.

i’m the january batch, currently in the police force.
i’ve done relatively well in my A’s, now pending interview..
but as what you mentioned there’s not much of a difference between A levels and Degree when i sign on, then maybe i’ll just go ahead with any vocation even if pilot doesnt recruit me.
cos mainly in police, if you haf A levels, you’ll join regular as a junior officer. Degree, its senior officer. I wonder if its the same in mindef

I just passed out from BSLC. And I'm posted to AFS for AOP. So what happens after that? My posting order doesn't state any vocation or whatsoever, just AOP.

hi.....im about to sign up as a pilot and im curious on my future career path over the age of 40 or 50 even.

do all people who retire at that age get preferential treatment as officers or do i need to get in line with the NCOs especially in stat boards??

and what is my career path is after that age in private sector?(ie:manager?director?property salesman?)

i have heard disparaging remarks from people who used to work in the government so i just need to know before i do sign up!

after RSAF retirement, u can go join SIA as civilian pilot or go to CAAS/ Changi airport work...

You are either going as a ADWS (an ADA spec which hauls 40+kg equipment around if u tio certain weapon systems) or as an ACS (Air Crew Specialist which operates machinery on choppers and some other planes etc).

AOP = Airmen Orientation Programme. It is something that teaches you about the RSAF in general.

If you tio ACS, you are one of the luckier ones. However, there are only 6 for the batch, so good luck.

Ok I am not sure about the training phase for ACS but for ADWS I can tell you that outfield, route marches and SOC are needed. Good news is your route marches are only a few km, bad news is you might have to carry equipment weighing up to 40+kg while marching.

For ACS I am not too sure. Why not enjoy your AOP first and worry later? Lol.

Best not to listen to this NUS-LSA bumpkin farmer loser who wanted to sign on as an LSA in RSAF..as we all know LSA and ATA farmers, when they get their CPT, people call them bus captains..

He claims to have been offered SMS, a farmer scholarship which he thought would impress his audience but no one was impressed, of which all 3 of us told him it's a farmer scholarship that any tom, dick and harry (in lower case for a reason) can get, the only criteria to which is to pass A levels and profess you want it.

Truly living up to his farmer DNA, he can't differentiate between 'proof' and 'prove', which explains how he could still get accepted by a farmer university's law school, LOL further reinforcing the lack of any form of entry standards of the farmer institutions. He's deluded and mentally disturbed and truly cherishes the delusions that he could possibly have better results than those who did not end up in farmer universities that accept the lowest common denominator of Singapore.

The mentally disturbed poor deluded farmer persists in looking away from the face of facts flying into his face from all directions (in denial) about the cream of Singapore avoiding farmer universities, something that everyone in Singapore knows. He also says he would 'work his ass off' for the next 20 yrs to show me lol it's so funny. I can't stop laughing.., LSE may accept the odd 2B1C, but guess what far worse monstrosities make up 99% of your farmer universities lol. Who the f looks at 3 subjects and no one considers your measley 3A for farmer law school as the top in Singapore. Go poll the 4A 2 S paper distinctions people. "bumpkins they don't wanna be" lol

I didn't condemn him to mediocrity cos he passed out of another wing. It's because of he's a farmer who can put up with slums and has no sense of self measurement. He even confidently said he thinks he has better results than someone whose results he doesn't know, how very archetypal of his farmer status.

It IS the ability. He could not take the Delta training. You want to try? I only provided the above information so that no one misunderstands and thought he went through it and survived Delta like you seemed to. I know what he's going to say next. That I went OOC of OCS. how lame. I can predict his every word. I guess the only achievement he can put to his name on his deathbed is that he became an officer.

I believe the replies that I have put in this thread speaks for itself louder than posts which strive to carry on from locked threads. After all, I am here trying to help people clarify their doubts with regards to RSAF matters to the best of my abilities.

I am well aware you tried to "give information" on RSAF. I am not one of your peers in school with questionable IQ. I was warning the unsuspecting and innocent forummers about taking what you say wholesale and not with a pinch of salt. Your credibility is doubtful because you have the proven tendency to believe things you have no basis in believing. Such as the results of your internet adversaries, amongst other farmer assumptions.
