Recent car accident

My relative was involved in a car accident a few weeks ago, luckily he wasn't injured at all,problem is that, while he was driving , the car up in front jam brake and he accidentally smashed the back of the car.

Under these circumstances, can we tell who is at fault?

Confirm ur relative!!!!!! No Doubts abt it…......Reason being he is considered to be tailgating or daydreaming…..so he is at fault

CONFIRM your relative. Didn't he knows the safety distance rule?

If your relative have kept applying the safety distance rule, no accident is to happened.

Traffice Police will either tell your relative he/she did not keep the safety distance or is speeding & cannot stop in time. Crying or Very sad

Hope this clears up everything.

Yup. even jam brake, with a distance of 100m, i think any car travelling within speed limit can still take time to horn, lower down windows, sweve car to the left, show middle finger and wind up window..

your relative's at a major disadvantage. I'd say that if it goes to a police report, there's a 95% chance of him at the losing end. It'll be argued that in any case, he should have kept a safety distance behind the car in front.

My advise will be to settle it privately. Don't make a police report. There'll be points deduction involved.

obviously ur relative la. if going on a straight road. front to rear collision, sure behind fault one. cos fail to keep safe distance, tailgate.

Well, unless the front car driver admitted that it was his fault. Then the whole issue will be difference.... Under normal circumstances, normally, the back driver will lose out.... however, I do see cases of back drivers winning the case... and claimed the front driver's insurance...

Yeah... hit the rear of a Mercedes once along Newton Road.

I just came out of a minor road there, still in left most lane but didn't have time to drop back and leave safety dist yet. He suddenly jammed on his breaks in clear weather, with no traffic in front of him.

Lucky he admitted, he ws looking at some documents and one fell... He bent down to pick it up and hit his brakes harder than he wanted to.

His insurance paid out.

That has nothing to do with stupid or smart. It has to do with having enough character to admit to a mistake and take responsibility for it. Confused

Quite sad to hear people say things like that. No wonder as a nation, Singapore has a long, long, long way to go.

But really... most people might not have the guts to admit... cos of the Singaporean mentality of 'saving face'...

I think it's more than saving face. Singaporeans have been raised to do the right thing not because it's the right thing to do, but because you'll get in trouble if you don't.

That's why we have an island full of people who will scratch someone else's car if no one is looking, hog lanes on the road, not signal even knowing that there are other cars behind them, not admitting to a mistake if they think they can get away with it, etc... Just because they feel they can get away with it.

as long as you bang people's car from behind, you are surely at fault,

unless the car in front of you engage reverse gear and bang into you

Any car in front which jammed brake will win the case. Absolute. Think like the driver in front dude. Even if he did it on purpose, he still, can get away, period.

And btw, FERRARIman, @ 100m away u do that, its quite dumb actually. u might be da one hitting into other cars. Razz or even a bus. haha!
