yes, they're planning to do that within the next 5 yrs, under
9th Malaysia Plan.
they're also going to build monorail in penang. u might not
believe, but malaysia manufactures its own monorail systems and
rolling stocks. quite impressive. they wanted to call tender for KL
Monorel in 1997, but the asian crisis stroke, and by 1998, they
decided to go for local builders. Metrail, a subsidiary of Malaysia
Mining Company (MMC), was born from its plant at Nilai (very near
KLIA), and the Monorel opened in 2001, operator being MTrans.
there are only about 3 monorail manufacturers around in the world
(not to be confused with LRT).... one of them is Hitachi, which is
doing our Sentosa Express...
