Singapore joins US-led programme to develop new generation
stealth fighter
Singapore will be taking part in the system design and development
phase of a new generation of advanced stealth fighters under a
US-led programme.
Its Defence Ministry and the US Department of Defence today signed
a Letter of Intent which paved the way for Singapore's
participation in the Joint Strike Fighter or JSF Programme.
MINDEF said, this has the potential to meet the RSAF's longer term
operational requirements for a multi-role fighter.
The stealth fighter will also have enhanced combat survivability,
precision engagement and lower cost maintenance.
Singapore is the first Asian country to join the JSF
Programme.
Other partners in the collaboration include the United Kingdom,
Australia, Canada, Denmark, Italy, Norway, The Netherlands and
Turkey.

Paying $50-$70 million dollars for this participation I believe.
What do you think of it? I think it is a sure sing of Singapore
getting JSF in future after 2010. . .
Just asking: Is this plane optimised for Air-to-Air or
Air-to-ground? Note the word 'Strike' in JSF. . .
