Why build another satellite, when SingTel is already the owner of the Australian OPTUS Telecommunication Giant that has a satellite which the Australian Intelligence is using ?

SingTel has also recently bought over the Indonesian main telecomunication service provider, that operate two satellites over the entire country.

Singapore Technologies also jointly own and operate a satellite with Taiwan, and clever called "ST-1" (short for Singapore-Taiwan No ONE).

Satellite space in Space can be expensive, as the air space into outer space runs vertically up from national boundaries, and one has to pay for "Parking Fees" for the satellites.

Little Tonga Island has the most strategic place on earth, and sells parking space in Outer Space over its "territorial volume".

Since our relationship is good with the Aussies, and with the Malaysian and Indonesian Governments being so unpredictable towards Aussies, it will not be too surprising if we are given access to the military benefits of the Aussie Satellite.

In any case, technology can overcome most obstacles, if diplomacy does not work.

Aussies were also not very happy at Singapore leh. . ., esp. when SIA tried to get Ansett and Singtel tried to get Optus almost simultaneously. . .looks to them like a little red dot trying to buy up their country. . .

IMO.......the spy network of SG (if there is) has to be in tip top secrecy so that it can keep out nosy ppl LIKE US who are so info-savy about stuff that's retricted and can even compromise national security.....

if this forum is a highly-classified military intranet and we are VIPs having the triple password access to it.....maybe we'll know more stuff....... sadly, it's only public domain...... accessible to any form of tom dick or harry... to land as far as the middle-earth...

If any of u guys were ever posted to intelligence units for NS, you’ll know that there are a few Units that are not officially listed in SAF, they help to form the intelligence backbone of the SAF and in turn SIngapore. There’s more to it than we know.

yep! he used to be head of SID. There was a website specialforces.com or something which says that there are 2 intelligence agency in singapore, ISD and SID. ISD for internal security apparatus, SID for overseas security intelligence.

Too bad that column was removed from the website, godd site though it also mentioned the 3 specialforces units which malaysia has.

The more we publicize and impress with our knowledge of general information from Weapon Manufacturers, it will do no harm to Singapore, but will definitely be instructive to "The Other Side" on the number of experts Singapore has.

However, if we should indulge into SAF weapon systems by posting from "PERSONAL EXPERIENCE" or " PERSONAL ENCOUNTERS" during In-Camp Training, we can only be helping "The Other Side" with up-dated information.
