Actually, do you know that even their shells are cracked, they
can rebuild it themselves and continue to live?
So if you did step on one and feel guilty about it, you could pick
it up and leave it on the side so that it wont be stepped on again.
Given sufficient time, they can live life as usual.
Dont feel too bad, it is not like you purposely step on it?
