Hey guys I received an invitation for Police Officer Selection Assessment and I wanted to know how are the procedures carried out? they did mentioned in the email to wear in formal attire and stated to arrive early for those who are scheduled at 0900 Hrs for a Psychometric Test. My question is, do I have to pass that Psychometric Test in order to be qualify for the interview? also, I am 21 this Sep but to be honest with you all this is my first time attending a job interview as I have never work before because of my parents restricting me to have freedom. I really find it nerve wrecking and I wanted to ask you guys what are the questions that will be asked by the interviewer? its ok if you dont want to share your answers but I just want to familiarize with the questions so that I can anticipate and practice what I have to say before the interview begin. Oh and btw, my interview is this upcoming Mon at Home Team Career Centre, 178 Neil Road Singapore 088889. This interview really means alot to me as I really wanted to successfully sign on with SPF as I do have passion for it and I hope to hear from your responses soon!

Congrats on the invitation first and foremost. Tbh, if you ask me, it doesn't take a genius to pass the psychometric test. If you have gone thru NS, you would have probably done something similar at cmpb. The answer is yes of course, I think you'll have to 'pass' the test. And for the interview, based on my experience, I think it isn't something that you can study or anything. For myself, they asked me about my service, employment history and personal background. Of course some basic information of the spf would come good. Just be yourself and you'll be fine. All the best!

Thanks:) but the thing is I have not gone through ns yet. That's wt worries me the most because I have no idea wt they test you on for Psychometric Test. Also mate, can you recall how many questions are there for that test?

Does that means I get to know the results for that Psychometric Test on the spot? Also if I fail that test, I will be send home and not given any chance for the interview?); usually during the selection assessment wt is the first thing I need to do? Hahaha I think you're worrying too much about the psychometric test. Bro, there's a lot of questions. The whole thing will take 1-2 hrs. It's just patterns, common sense and logic. No Fourier series or periodic elements involved I assure you. đ

The procedure for mine was: verification of documents, filling up forms, tests, height and weight, body check, break, interview.

Your test will be done on paper. So theres no way you will get to know the result same day. Yes you will still be interviewed. But eventually the results of both your test and interview outcome will be determined if you are suitable for the job.

Test is not hard. Just need to be fast. I dont think it's easy to fail the test unless you really really screw up.

Any ideas if they still might take me into consideration if the test I didnt manage to do well but my interview goes well or vice versa? Also is there this an essay that we need to do in that test?

The typical questions i think they would ask is why you want to join the force. And what you know about job scope of a police officer. I was nervous so i turned the tables by asking about career progression and how did the 2 interviewers ended up where they are. They spend a whole 10 mins (i think) sharing about their experiences. I would strongly suggest you prepare few questions to ask the interviewers so at least they would think that you are keen.

But again i think it depends on who is interviewing you. Mine was really friendly whereas a friend of mine was the opposite.

I see but can you recall exactly how many questions were asked during the interview? You mentioned that you turned the tables by asking the interviewer questions but did you managed to answer those two questions or they totally forgot and skip those two questions? since they spent like 10 mins sharing their experiences.

Also mate its 2 interviewers and not more than that? If 2 I wont be that nervous as oppossed to 3-5 panel like interviewers.

Essay is just to see your english proficiency. No right or wrong answers.

I did answer them because my dad, brother and 3 of my best friends are also on the force. So it helps.

I dont know if they will still consider if you do badly for test but did well for interview. Because no one except the assessor will know of the results any way

You need to relax and not worry too much bro. If you are suitable, they will select you.

Thanks for the advice!:) but the interviewers only 2 and not 4? Also lastly can give me tips on how to answer "What you know about the jobscope of a police officer"? Cos im quite puzzled here in which they are referring to, police officer as in JPO or SPO?

You are applying for JPO position so obviously they will ask you questions that related to that position

Whether it's 2 or 3 or 4 panels it doesnt really matter. It's not within your means to decide the numbers. Just give your best shot.

I dont think any of us keep track a number of question thats being asked. Thats not how interview works. They'll ask 1 question and it's a 2 way conversation. When you are done with your answer, they'll ask another. Probably until they've decided whether you are suitable or not.

Btw the typical answer they get during interview is 'im passionate about joining the force.'. So if you really have passion about being in the force, convinced them in how and in what way you are passionate.
