Which is the safest highest rpm can we bring our engine up to before it starts to blow?

those red region, is it safe to change gears within those region?

computer games and tv shows make it seem safe/possible to do so..

change when the speed suit the next gear lor. y do u wan to drag gear lei? and also, travel at high rpm meaning burning more fuel. if u compare, travelling at 50km/h on gear 3 and gear 4. gear 4 rpm will be lower mah, which save u some fuel as compare to using gear 3 for 50km/h

when it reach redline,it will remain constant...
but cant hold there too long or "Blown Engine"... Laughing

well, from my personal experience (auto cars).. i think the rev limiter will force a change in gear b4 it reaches the red region.. but sometimes when it reaches b4 that region, i will release the accelerator abit because im afraid something bad might happen..

my friend drives a nissan sunny (manual).. he said that when he was at gear 5, the engine totally cut off.. car seem to be cruising at high speed with total silence from the engine.. he tried to down shift and engage gear 4 several times and after a moment, the engine came back to 'live'.. that was his experience from over rev (i don think right term to use)..

maybe u guys can share ur experiences too.. or perhaps answer the thread topic..

Think most of you are mistaken.

If you just want to know how high it can go before you change gear and not trave from Pasir Ris to Boon Lay. then it is safe to change in the red zone.

Honda and Toyota engines ( the slightly older generation) are well known to be bullet proof. As long as your car is not using forced induction to churn out more power, the engine can stay in the red zone without doing any significant damage to the engine.

Which is why some honda and toyota engines are further tune to be able to rev to higher limits.

a good example is the engine Bunta replaces in his AE86. That engine is a Black Top 20V 4AGE. The red line is at the 8000 mark.

however, TRD have taken that engine and retuned to be able to rev up to 11k.

hondas engines have been similarly retuned too.

generally cars today have a rev limiter to prevent u from overrevving the engine and damaging the car. but actually u should find the power n torque band for your car and shift within that range because it's the most efficient.

well if u go a bit to red zone its ok….......but if u go rite untill limiter kick in then sure blow after a while…imagine how fast…..
