Sound recording

Err... a quick question here.
How in the world do you record sounds off the computer's audio? I need it to be able to record at least 5mins of audio.

Get a microphone. Start playing with it and you will know.

If you're willing to pay, a good software is "All Sound Recorder".

Although it's not Freeware, but it's worth the money. Using it, I can now indirectly 'convert' music files from any format to any other format (eg. mp4 to mp3), without having to buy any additional file format conversion software.

wat kinda audio? u'd like to mic up ur own instrument and record ur own song?

digicharat SG

im using cdex to convert anything i heard on my pc into mp3s.
that means if i happened to click some stuff while recording, the mp3 will have that mouse clicking sound. Laughing

I use Camtasia, it records video/audio in computers… problem is the output is really big because of the video(so need ample hdd space), if i want sound only, i split audio which is in wav format.

open volume control from system tray or running "sndvol32".

under options > properties > adjust volume for, select "recording" radio button. check wave option below if it is not checked. press OK.

it should work after tat with any audio recording software, even sound recorder.

If you have a Line In and Line Out Port on your PC Sound Card, you can link the Line Out port back to the Line In port and starts recording. It’s the clearest.

Hey thanks for all the help you've given me guys! Smile

By the way Digicharet, I got this review from download.com

"CDex is an application that records audio tracks from CDs and saves them to a disk as regular WAV files or as encoded sound files. This program features an MP3 decoder (MPEG 1/2/3-based) and a new LAME encoder, and has built-in support to generate OGG Vorbis files. CDex is available in English, German, Italian, and Spanish. This latest release includes better support of USB drives when using Native NT SCSI library option and various bug fixes"

Although it doesn't say anything about having any ability to record audio from the Computer, is it this one that you're referring to?

digicharat SG

yes thats the one.
to record, go to tools and choose record from analog input. then fiddle with the setting.
can directly save to wav or mp3

Thanks man! Wink

Hmmm I tried that just now. After recording what I wanted, how do i get to save and play it? When I press 'stop' it only has two other options left which is 'record' and 'cancel'. Don't have any 'play' option.

Thanks for any help given. Razz

EDIT: problem solved, but now another problem is that the sound recorded is very blur, soft and has lots of echoes. Is there any way to counter this?

chanff8 SG

Windows has its own program to do that...

Windows Media Encoder

digicharat SG

when you recording, did you do anything else on your com which may had produced some sound? the program will record all sound you heard on your com.
anyway, i never encounter any blurry or echoes. can try checking the bit rate is it high enough. save in stereo not mono.

when you saving the sound you must set your volume control and wave to loudest to have the same voulme as the original source.

polarsnake SG

Ahh, I've found out that the sound was recorded off the mike that was hanging around somewhere. But it seems as though that's the only input device option that's available (intel(r) integrated audio). Is there any special kind of wiring or setting that I would need? It all just seems so weird...

Sorry to bother you too much about this, I feel so bad... Sad

Question

i dun quite get you.
are you trying to record sound from the microphone?

polarsnake SG

Nah, only from the computer.
