Vaccination - some parents choose not to

the Bear SG

there is mercury in the vaccine..

may cause brain damage in children.. that's something the boffins aren't telling people Razz

the Bear SG

there have been few studies into the toxicity of the mercury used in the stuff...

read more in these sites...

Vaccines and Mercury

CDC knew mercury in vaccines causes autism

Mercury on the mind

Mercury in the vaccine may have actually caused autism in children... yet the makers of the vaccine do not want to change.. because of the costs and probably the lawsuits involved...

so, as a parent, would you risk your child? to be injected with something filled with mercury?

ditzy SG

SK II has mercury in its products, just kidding lar. Laughing

Qing^.^ SG

Actually kinda double-edged sword.. cos take or dun take also got risk.. Rolling Eyes

the Bear SG

the mercury is a preservative...

to make one without the mercury is to incur higher costs... which means a decreased profit margin..

... now.. do you know where i'm going with this?

by the way, each time someone tries to bring this up to the gabrament in the US, major character assassination takes place... they try to dispute the "findings" but mostly, they go for character assassination...

make your own decisions about why Wink

SingaporeMacross SG

this is singapore... the law compels you to vaccinate your child..

well technically it doesnt, BUT,

you need to vaccinate your child to apply for primary school. if you don't immunize, you can't apply.

and since primary school education is compulsory, you're breaking the law on compulsory primary education.

SilverRevo SG

aiya ... they considered the opportunity cost of switching to non-mercury and decided that the profit margin for that while maintaining max value of the ppc is too high. my first lecture with econs ... Mr. Green

SMAPLionHeart SG

We can choose not to obey the law

BufPuf SG

i was watching strong medicine yesterday
and the episode was on this

about how this young boy was barred from going to school
coz the other parents refuse to let him go sch w/o the vacinne

his elder bro got autism after getting the vaccination
so the mother worried for this younger boy

the Bear SG

so, the questions remain...

is it okay for corporations to earn huge profits at the cost of children's brains?

when there is a solution available, is it all right to choose the status quo because it is cheaper, damn the children?

and i thought children were priceless..

dakkon_blackblade SG

This issue of the purported association between MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccination and autism had been raised and debated quite fiercely since 1998, and numerous studies since then have found no firm evidence of any correlation nor causation between the two. Hence there's no good reason for parents not to let their infants undergo the innoculation.

the Bear SG

i know..

however, why is it that the pharmaceutical companies insist on using mercury as a preservative when there are alternatives?

dakkon_blackblade SG

http://www.fda.gov/Cber/vaccine/thimerosal.htm

I suppose the main problem is that in medicine and healthcare, alternative treatments and measures and new drugs and vaccines take quite some time to implement. But millions of children have been innoculated with vaccines containing thimerosal, and yet went on to lead normal lives, so we should not be unduly worried by this.

the Bear SG

cold comfort for those whose children were affected huh?

it's only statistics until it happens to someone we know, or ourselves Neutral

the one thing i could not understand is why instead of a proper debate or research data, the lobbyists and the pharmaceutical companies immediately went on the offensive with character assassination instead..

that set off many alarm bells...
