Difference in sizes of batteries used?

Anyone knows what is the real reason behind the different sizes of batteries used on different equipment?

Like the old pagers uses AAA size, touchlights uses D size...

There is big equipment and there is small equipment.

Be it AAA or D size, they all use 1.5volt Laughing

Because of Capacity.

AAAA is also 1.5 but low capacity.

D is 1.5 but higher capacity.

But now with technology, the rechargeble AA batteries have more capacity than a D size alkaline.

but if you want to compare among alkalines.... obviously. D has most.

apart from obvious reasons like size...voltage is also a factor...example...there is a rectangular sized battery..it supplies 9V per battery...but those cylinder sized ones provide 1.5V each.

If I’m not mistaken, I was once told by someone that it’s all due to the capacity of the battery cell. The bigger it is, the higher capacity it holds. That’s why when I do my project previously, I uses a C size battery instead of AA as chose over by my friend and my project work lightings last longer.

related to the capacity of the charges it can store bah. like a water bottle with 2 litres of water can last you longer den a water bottle with 1 litre of water bah. Smile

Simply becos different equipment has different current consumption. Different Batteries size used it to meet the no of hours the equipment is able to use with the batteries.

Bigger size batteries can store more current, thus it's rating in mAH is higher (comparing to the same material used in the batteries).

Batteries has evolved the same as electronics - miniturisation. Thus, new materials are studied to give it a higher mAH rating in smaller size now.

But how come those kechil ones that are used for calculators are 3V?
