How do I install my sound card?

thanks for all your help. Laughing i managed to install the sound card by configuring the bios setting liao. now i want to install my graphics card. presently, mine is at the pci slot, but my new graphics card in for the VGA slot. i inserted it together with the old one and installed using windows. but still nothing come out onto the monitor when i plug in my monitor into the new graphics card. i tried removing the old one but still can't work. is there any settings i need to configure before my new graphics card can work?

I didn't know you can use 2 graphics cards together. Surprisingly, Windows never crash. Use either the old or new one. If the old one is integrated with the motherboard, disable it after installing the new graphic card. Don't be so dumb and disable it before installing new one. You won't see anything if you do so.

To add on to Ponders post:
Since the thread poster indicate it is a P3 motherboard, the PCI slot in that generation are ususally white.

And PCI slots ususally have a notch key, so if u can't fix it in means u are putting in the wrong way or the wrong slot.

Depending on ur OS u are installed with, drivers installation might require to be installed manually.

yes you can. but one is AGP the other must be PCI.

The AGP output cable goes to the PCI card. CArd output goes to monitor

when i tried remove the old on and put in the new one, the monitor did not show ‘no input detected’ sign. instead, it just remains black. the old one can still work when i exchanged back.

Either motherboard don't support it (quite rare, never see before) or the new card is damaged. Try the new card on another PC. If it works, could be motherboard don't support (but frankly, I have no idea this can happen).

Haha, I know. But I don't have a habit of checking manuals, so I usually just anyhow plug in. Got one time wrong, so now I check in case only. Laughing

Check ur mobo's AGP specs and ur new AGP graphics card's spec. Are they compatiable?

Some eariler gen mobo doesn't support the newer 8x AGP cards. If they do support forward comptability, check if ur mobo's BIOS are updated to support it.
