I know this is a dumb question...but wat are the legalities pertaining bodykits?

Bumpers

The following requirements must be met when changing or modifying bumpers:

a) The bumper must be of the design approved by the vehicle manufacturer.
b) Installation must be carried out in accordance with the vehicle manufacturer's recommendations.
c) The bumper must not have any sharp corners or edges.

there are independant companies that make bodykits.,...do they actually satisfy (a)?

For part a) Yes. Most of them took the orginal one convert them into mould and then mass produce. It will cost cheaper than if you take the orginal ones during the events when ur car is damage. But well, the workmanship might not be as gd as the original ones...

the body kit mus not exceed the size of ur car n mus not hav sharp edges...
