1990-1995 was when the new kind of clubbing scene came about…Boat Quay.posh discotheques…free flow..tea party..Huge shopping malls like Ngee ANN…suddenly just pop out from nowhere at such fast rate before u blink your eye..the “boom” period..like i call it..Then it start to influence our mindset, culture and fashion…of that time mostly followed western culture, not J-pop…

Someway i believe playing Quake and Doom helped my psychology..anybody feel the same?
It gave my mind a sense of independence when u know are the player is alone in a huge spaceship fighting monsters..The monsters which can represent your inner demons, perhaps so?

suspect it has something to do wif our environment...our time..studies was not stressful...mind was not so clogged with examns issues so we start to look and learn about things around us more...being an extrovert..rather than introvert...

perfect on the mark..which i wanted to say...true indeed....because..game sof the doom and quake era had require the player to "survive, conserve, analyse and deal with stress"...In order to do it, u need to be n tune witht he game environment...like closing doors and which area can the monsters can corner u ect.....if u see flying monsters in quake.u know which weapons to use.probably a chaingun to nail the suckas...U know chaingun is rapidfire...could hit them more.....But if u see the huge slow moving mechanical robots which inflict mass damage using rockets..u stay far off from them and pick them from afar using a long range projectile weapon..if u see those fast charging monsters with he huge blade on their arms..shotgun will keep them away...u know long range weapons slow reload wont work...

the kinds of games now…rather disappointed with them…team based strategy and the crap..instead of the lone hero , they have artificial AI working together like in Halo…Your mind will not get a sense of independence of urgency…And players play them to find out the story to see fancy graphic effects..Games have become like a storybook which u just flip thru to find out the next chapter..

Quake and Doom had basically no story..an initial prologue of the situation and then u are on your own tour de force..the environment and game concept, levels and mood tell a story by themselves…
