NUSSU is actually the umbrella for many of the groups like CBLC
and your faculty club, like Arts and Social Science Club.
The Union
mission:
To promote and safeguard members' interest in the union within the
university
To uphold and respect the dignity and equality of every member of
the union, regardless of race, religion or politics.
To promote the welfare of the members within the
university.
PS: Members mean the students.
You can find more information in your NUSSU diary.
As to why they want to stop the fee hike .. well they're the
student representative right? Just like Worker Union represent the
workers (who have no bargaining rights you might say) to bargain
with the government. Moreover they don't get salary and the hike
affects them as well.
