Vicente14 SG I think the movie ‘Jarhead’ isn’t getting any publicity because it’s the prime example of how negative your life in the military will be. The actors keep on emphasizing they were ‘dumb enough to sign a contract’ (sign on?) and they show all the shit that will happen like their girlfriends banging other jodies while they were on duty…This MAY discourage people to make a career in the army…That’s my opinion so far…
Fatum SG nope ... I think it's cos some powers-that-be thought the movie may offend the sensibilities of some subset of Singapore's society ... think of the recent protests over the cartoons ... don't think that power-that-be would be comfortable with a movie depicting the gulf war ... which many of a particular religion call it a war on them ....
nightzip SG no lah, the newspaper already put the review of the movie, not interesting at all. only 2* out of 5. So ofcourse lousy movie no people wanna know about.
Xcert SG I cant say whether its worth watching or not....cos jarhead is not too mainstream in the sense that it doesnt have fighting as in movies such as Black Hawk Down....Jarhead takes a look at the average soldier who gets sent to Iraq. Desert warfare.
nightzip SG yah, good theme. but the review says its all talk and no fight. In fact, very very little battle scenes, its all like nei xin xi, emotions, imagery, phychological show. not exactly a thriller, rather a documentary.
jeramy SG yahahah m18 so that only enlisted personnel can watch.. if not scare the shit out of those havent enlist one then got more suicides etc.
Shotgun SG Its not a typical bang bang shoot them up movie u get from hollywood. Its meant to reflect realities of war. not just the action. Back in the first gulf war... if u were in the marines, chances are u didnt get to see much action. Unless u were a tanker. This movie shows that.. to show the marines engaged in on the foot firefights would have been bullsh!t.
