why is it called a poor city? this is Yamagata,
a quiet suburban-type city, lots of factories and manufacturing
industry. Also has great traditional Japanese food. I had a
wonderful soba meal there, soba wheat grown by the chef outside his
house. There is also a picture of Oshin, who apparent is from that
area. The tonkatsu there is also great......
Nice place to visit if you want some peace and quiet.... the
ability to converse in Japanese will be great, unless you want to
play charade everyday.
