important not to over-rev a new engine within the first
1,000km. You can still accelerate briskly but try not to rev past
3,000rpm or so. And when cruising on the expressway, vary your
speed so the engine isnt always at the same revs.
Once past the 1k mark, you can gradually increase the max rev. By
3,000km, you should rev the engine to its redline every now and
then. Many pple are afraid that doing so will shorten the engines
lifespan, but it is actually a very important part of fully running
in a car.
follow manufacturers guidelines for servicing intervals, and
rectify any small faults asap
cars brakes are often overlooked, but these should also be
properly run in. Try to avoid hard braking for the first 1k, once
past this mark, perform a few e-brake (on empty roads, of course..)
to check that the brake system is working correctly. This also
helps to bed in the brake pads.
