if you want to copy direct your need 2 CD/ DVD writer... as some has suggested here u can try...but make sure u make duplicates of the .dat file/s u wanna...

I have an Urgent question to ask you. It’s like this, my friend bought a Vcd serial and I am interested. Thus, I decided to buy a stack of empty CDs to ask her to help me write them in. She only has a cd-writer, not burner, and she claims that the Vcd she has written can only be viewed on computer. But I want to watch it on dvd. What should I do? What type of Cd should I buy so that the cd-writer can writes in and let me watch it on Tv. Please reply asap. Urgent. Deeply, sincere Thanks in Advance.

think u need a burner on your com and the appropirate prog to write dvd.

did she burn everything as in every files or just the mpeg file? if just mpeg file then you can only watch on computer.

inside the vcd there are other files that are needed for it to play in players.

taht means u only put 1 video in a cd and it's not any format of WMA, or any other formats that only the com can read.

CD-Writer=CD-Burner

The serial is in VCD, so if you burn onto a DVD it won't be of DVD quality.

One way you can burn that serial is:

1. Insert the VCD into the drive
2. Fire up any CD burning application (NTI, Nero etc)
3. Look for an option that allows you to duplicate CD (Or make a backup)
4. Let it copy the entire content of the VCD, then when it finish, it'll prompt you to insert a blank CD-R
5. Insert and it'll burn the CD-R. It'll be similar to the VCD.

You end up using the same number of discs as the number of VCDs.

Try copying one first. Then test whether it'll work. It works for DVD when I duplicate Final Fantasy VII Advent Children on a Mac.

no no if you open the vcd using ur comp, you will find that there is ard 4-5 folders. one is mpeg which hold the movies the rest is use for when you play ur vcd using a vcd or dvd player.

so if ur friends only burn the mpeg folder files, then you can only watch using ur comp. ask her to burn every shit folder/files that she can find and you should be able to play it using ur dvd player.

Yea those folders contain .DAT files which are actually .mpg files. Just copy all those which contains the episodes and you should be able to burn a few episodes inside a DVD. The problem is your friend does not seem to have a DVD burner

b) write it on DVD and view it in DVD and/ VCD?
c) write it on CD and watch it on VCD,DVD player and TV VCR?
d) write it on DVD and watch it on VCD,DVD player and TV DVD player/ VCR?

yes. since she said can only view on computer, it does sound like .mpg or .avi.

.mpg can be burnt into vcd/dvd format with nero, but if it's cut for vcd, no point burning it as a dvd cos the picture quality will be vcd. unless u wan every episode as chapters on a dvd... but i've no experience in that.

.avi can be complicated. certain codecs are not readable by burning softwares, like a52 surround sound codec.

yea avi is a very troublesome format. Sometimes if you try converting to mpg it'll have no audio after conversion.

i am assuming you should have the following...

a cd-writer
some unwritten cd+/-r, cd+/-rw
the vcd to copy
the knowledge to write contents to a cd

drag and drop whatever u see in the VCD....(u must disable auto play and just open the VCD to see the folder contents) into your computer hdd. run whatever cd-writing program that comes with the cd-writer when u install or buy the writer. drag and drop the files to the cd media and let the burning begins...this method i haven try before dun know if the disc can auto play from dvd/vdc players with tv or not. i have not tried this method yet but u can do it if u wanna experience..i am not going to waste on 50cents cd-r to prove it, not at this moment...but if one day i find that i really have to do it i will

but this method proven effective....i am using nero and have many motion pic videos in WMV and .mpg format or whatever chapalang format...i gather all i want to write to cd and select "burn files as VCD/SVCD"..i have this option in my nero writing program (u should check yours to see if your cd writing program can burn in VCD/SVCD format)...drag the files onto the target and burn...after complete, the whole cd-r media is like a VCD when i put into players with tv...it will autoplay but cannot playback in computer roms, not without a minimum REALPLAYER installed.

please note that once written in VCD format, it should be able to play in most DVD/VCD players with TV....and do not circulate such copied contents or sell copies of it....can consider breaking copyright laws if u do it for a profit of your own and without permission Mr. Green
