Culpable homicide.
S. 299 of the Penal Code: Whoever causes death by doing an act with
the intention of causing death, or with the intention of causing
such bodily injury as is likely to cause death, or with the
knowledge that he is likely by such act to cause death, commits the
offence of culpable homicide.
Well... if someone really got knocked down, I think which charge
the driver faces is determined by how the accident happen? It could
be Causing death by rash or negligent act as well...
Altho the SAF officer only got 4 months, there were others who got
YEARs of imprisonment.
Finally, I think there is no need to get a lawyer to represent
unless the person is really rich. The suggestion to bring more cash
is useful tho.. bring more friends and family to court too. U never
know if more money is needed. Not enough money to pay? I think can
pay by instalment. Ask the judge.
At the end of the day, Stop this folly of drink and drive... altho
many people do land up in jail for traffic offence, drink and drive
could cause others to lose their lives as well... Haiz... treasure
lives...
