Well, it's supposed to be placed on your lap....
But my laptop produces too much heat for me to do that for long
periods of time. Heck, I rest my laptop on a cooling pad on a
table.
Besides, there's always the risk that my laptop can slide off my
lap and undergo gravitational acceleration. No way do I want that
to happen.
