CoolMyth SG Paiseh, after thinking through Q3, not sure what the question is asking. Got some ideas but not very sure.
Ponders SG you ask me this 4 years ago i can answer for you. haha Last time in uni got take this course. But you must thank NS, my brain degenerated since. Anyway, you can ask business students.. this seems to be questions for them. It's business economics. for now.. let me try figure question 3.
screwchinks SG zere eist ich est here! heil fuhrer! 1(a) Objective equation minimize x^2+4.h.x constraint equation x.x.h=32 x^2.h=32 1(b) surface area=x^2+4.h.x h=32/x^2 from constraint equation sub. h=32/x^2 into equation for surface area surface area=x^2+4.(32/x^2).x 1(c) setting d(surface area)/dx=0, x= h=32/x^2= HEIL FUHRER!!! 2 Number of cars = a+ b*(toll rate) 36,000 = a + (-300)*(100) [$1=100 cents] a=66,000 Number of cars = 66,000 - 300 * (toll rate) Revenue = Number of cars * toll rate Revenue = [66,000 - 300*(toll rate)] * toll rate setting d(revenue)/d(toll rate)=0, optimal toll rate= HEIL SIEGE!!! HEIL FUHRER!!! 3 this question zere is not very clear in its wording. however i take it to mean average number of books in storage = 400,000/number of production runs . Let x = number of production runs total cost = setting up costs + carrying costs = 1000*x + 400,000/x setting d(total cost)/dx = 0 x= zere i am not sure abut the meaning of ze question. not very clear question. nevertheless HEIL SIEGE! HEIL FUHRER!!! i dunno if have any calculation errors anot, you check lah.
Ponders SG yup... took it during year 2 or year 3 forgot.. business calculus... gotta take a basic calculus class first. but serious shit.. i read the question, i konw what it means.. but now i totally forgot how to start. haha. but that german guy seems to be on the right path.
ditzy SG Wah, objective and contraint equations, that's the main reason I shifted my majors to fluid mechanics.
