wbucket SG Hi everyone, I just booked a car and got my COE last wednesday. Now My SE just called me, telling me to perpare my payment + some other charges (guess is insurance). I find it strange that he is already asking me to pay up the full sum, even though he told me the car will only be available in Feb. He said he needs to register already. Now, is this normal? Do you guys pay up immediately after getting your COE or just before getting your car? The SE told me he need to register now, but I thought the car needs to be there for registration? Will be meeting my SE soon, so I would appreciate it if you guys could advise me before that.
houndy SG yup.. you have to pay for the registration of your vehicle and insurance as well... that is why... always try to get your car ASAP...
Nitroblood SG Not very sure about the payment thingy~ But I got my car a few days after I'd made the payment~ Maybe you should check with your SE why is the car so late and you have to make the payment so early~
tankaloy SG With the payment, the SE can get the car for you faster, cos there is a long queue for registration. The SE will be given priority by his Manager to have the car for his client first..
mushigen SG Confirm with your SE when you'll be getting your car. Normally the car should already be physically here when the registration process is done. However, I've heard that they need only the engine and chasis number to register the car to your name, but I don't think the SE will dare to do that before the car arrives in Sgp. What if the car is registered, and something cocks up during the journey to Sgp? If you are getting the car only in Feb and it is registered now, you lose two months of usage time, not to mention depreciation. Also, find out from the SE what fees you'd be paying. It's strange how easily people part with their money these days.
Joe_Legal SG Yes, it is normal to pay up the downpayment + other charges like insurance up front before you get the car. But you might want to check that insurance, road tax should start only around the time you collect the car, if not on the same day. This is normally granted as the case, but in case there's cockups... Cheers
wbucket SG It seems they only have a fix number of cars coming in per month. All Jan's cars are booked. So I can only book for Feb shippment. From the amount he gave me, seems like just downpayment and insurance. Anyway, thanks for the info. I will confirm the dates involved and the breakdown of the fees I am paying.
nielle SG I had a 2 month wait for car, so didn't pay balance of downpayment plus insurance till abt 1 to 2 weeks before collecting car...
wbucket SG Sorry, false alarm. Just confirmed with my SE. He said after registration, the car will be delivered within 3 weeks. Seems like they have stock now.
dandalao SG Sorry, false alarm. Just confirmed with my SE. He said after registration, the car will be delivered within 3 weeks. Seems like they have stock now. When will ur SE register for you? 3 weeks from now or after registration. I believe still a ??? here
wbucket SG Actually I havn't pay up yet. SE not very free in weekends. Anyway it should be 3 weeks after registration. But I will ask him exactly when he is registering.
wbucket SG Hi, Actually, after much consideration and calculations, I think kelisa would be suited for me now. And so that is what I have booked. So how about you? What is your (future) ride? wbucket
wbucket SG Small......agreed, cute......ya. So far I think I am still comfortable with size. Short like me has its advantage.
