DUMB Question.. (how does L1R5 work?)

tigeer2 SG

till now, though i am sec 4 i still dont understand how Olevel points work Embarassed ,

i meen wat subjects can allow you to minus points other than CCA

i heard that higher chinese works, how about others ,like Art? Rolling Eyes

And wat is art stream and science stream?

>>>>>???? o.0 ????<<<<<<

stellazio SG

are u sure you’re an O level student?

tigeer2 SG

ok i admit it i'm not, i juz wanna know tats all Embarassed

StarPuppy SG

L1R5 is a 5 subjects and inn the 5...English MUST pass

If i am correct...all subjects are allowed to minus from your total L1R5 score

stellazio SG

no wonder..ok i believe that there a few ways to decrease your L1R5.. Cca points and higher chinese i think, and also for if you enter the Jc for the 1st 3 months, and you choose the JC back again you get to deduct another 2 point off for loyalty points or whatever its called..

And art does not minus any marks for u,but u can use it as a subject to count towards ur points total..

science stream is harder to get in den arts stream..and both takes different subjects..this is what i think..

tigeer2 SG

now i really confused

d3sT1nY SG

the L1 will be ur english.. erm.. higher MT included or nt i duno lah.. i nv take tt.. lolz..

then the R5 will be ur best 5 subjects if u wan to go to a JC.. or else is only R4 if u wan go poly..

then total up ur L1R5 points and u will get ur score..

stellazio SG

no leh,i thought L1R5 is got relevant subjects and not best subjects..

I believe english, mandarin, humanities, science, maths and one last best subject..

d3sT1nY SG

oh ya.. if ur CCA grade is A2 or A1.. u can get 2 points off ur score.. tt means u can get lower score thus getting into better JC.. and HMT is oso included in this.. erm.. how it works i think u'll receive a booklet in ur sec 4 life lah.. hahaz..

arts and sci stream only differ in the sub combi.. now tt the system is changed.. if u nt sci stream.. u nid to take one sub from arts stream..

sci stream sub - bio, chem, phy, computing, maths
arts stream sub - econ, arts, lit, history, geo

d3sT1nY SG

normally it's term as L1B5 if u wan go JC..
and L1R4 if u wan go poly..
something like tt lah.. lolz..

BillyBong SG

I think of L1R5 as an abbreviation for: L = Language, 1 = 1st language, R= result and 5 = best 5 papers.

In short, take your best language subject (EL1/CL1/ML1/TL1) and next best 5 subject results to obtain your raw score.

stellazio SG

i thought opposite,L1R5 for JC and L1B4 for poly.. Laughing

Poly got a few diff grading one,got business courses,It courses all requires diff grades for diff subjects..

d3sT1nY SG

L1B5 = language 1 best 5..
L1R4 = langauge 1 relevant 4.. as u nid to choose the relevant sub to choose ur poly course.. u cant use humanities to go biomed for e.g...

language is only eng.. mother tongue is considered as the B5 or R4..

tigeer2 SG

so cca is very important coz it helps u to minus points to get into top JCs rit?

like the maximum points u can get if u get all 6 A1s is 6 pts and u can minus 2 points if ur CCA gets A1 or A2 rit? Or higher chinese, u get distinction u also minus 2 Points rit?

LazerLordz SG

Best 5 subjects.

DrTech SG

Yes... maximum bonus is deduction of 4 points.

Higher MT can be considered as your L1... but that means you cannot use the bonus 2 points from it. You do the math.

tigeer2 SG

i tot arts stream is only for ppl who take AEP (arts elective prog) or CAP (creative arts prog)?

i took combines humanities and triple science too, so wat category im in??
mixed? o.0

d3sT1nY SG

oh.. tt sci n arts stream is JC.. nt sec sch.. lolz..

technoboy SG

Can CCA be used to minus points for going into poly?

I heard different people saying differnt stuffs... Some say no, some say certain courses and some say yes... So what is it? Confused

d3sT1nY SG

i dun think so.. CCA only for JC.. lolz..
