First, you need to define what it means to celebrate Christmas.
Does it involve saying "merry christmas" to your friends, or does
it involve going to church and what not?
Until this is clarified, non-christians celebrating christmas can
simply be put as an excuse to celebrate a holiday, encouraged by
retailers and businessmen, of course. The occasion gives people an
excuse to give presents to their loved ones or gorge themselves to
death on food. Although the easiest way to describe why they
celebrate christmas is already given :
many singaporeans are sadly just blind followers.
pple do what, they follow.
they nv pause and think. what does xmas mean to me?
all flock to orchard road, thinking it is wintery?
i buy present, u buy present, all buy present.
very stupid folks. just like what Li Ao said.
I myself am a non-christian, but I still buy gifts for my
friends. Why? Because everyone is doing it. The result is that
Christmas seems to become a day of giving (like Valentine's Day)
rather than celebrating Jesus' birthday.
Then again, maybe I don't know what I am talking about...
