nympho SG I have always been puzzled by this illusion. When a rotating object, like a car's rim, is at a certain speed, why does it seem to be rotating backwards (when the car is going forward)
theTelepath SG it only happens at night, not during the day. Thats because streetlights are not constant but flicker at 60Hz. The flicker coincides with the movement of the wheel spokes and the brain interprets this as the wheels moving backwards. This is my first serious answer of the week.
