Due to the inefficient of window xp, as time goes by the os will
start to boot up slower then usual. this is due to the registry
having load of rubbish and all this will add to the start up of
window xp. my suggestion is to reinstall window xp if you can. else
do a disk cleanup as well as a speed disk. after doing the
speeddisk, it should boot faster then before.
As for the black patch, most probably it will be driver problem
because if the laptop screen start to fail, it will be more like
dead spot rather then black patches.
