alexkusu SG anyway, they r going to swing a small projectile at the meteorite..jus to knock it off course by a little..to save earth the projectile cud be some abandoned satellites or space junk
donchoo SG The impact won't make any difference at all considering the sheer mass of the asteriod. In fact it might just crash onto the surface of the asteriod due to the gravitational force produce by the spinning of the asteriod. Or orbit around the asteriod which is pretty unlikely due to the huge amount of debris and rocks of all sizes which is bound to strike the projectile we send at it. Forget about ur nuclear warheads too, if i were to space walk just few metres away from a nuclear warhead and detonate it, i won't die. The warhead will break into pieces and float around, at most i'll just get radiation induced sickness or cancer or something. Reason being shockwave can't travel in vaccum
