launtpc SG Vista same as XP, use the same core, so got the same bug. Other than few eye candy... maybe got some other changes but still based on XP.
findingnewidea SG i look it this way, same core same reliability. there is no way you can perfect system from day one, if Linux always changes its core every new version, i assure you it will be buggy. furthermore, it is much more than just a few eye candies.
ditzy SG Just tried it on another comp. It requires a powerful graphics display card. Went back to using the old OS after trying.
FireIce SG slightly fancier interface i change my XP to classic interface im nostalgic.......i still like the win95 look
chanff8 SG yawnz…. basically its just ‘nicer’ and more demanding graphics for our graphic cards. Forever the same, no original ideas…
sohguanh SG yawnz.... basically its just 'nicer' and more demanding graphics for our graphic cards. Forever the same, no original ideas... Well it is the same for other electrical appliances like say HP. Change a bit here and there then give a new model and market it out to earn money. Unless the core or base is changed drastically, it is like add-on but bandied around like a brand new OS. M$ need to feed thousands of programmer everyday leh if no new OS how to earn money?
abao SG If u juz wan the nicer look of windows longhorn, try windowsblinds and use the longhorn build 5203.
ceecookie SG then also when the Vista is released here, who here will switch from XP to Vista? note:not the beta..
findingnewidea SG i won't upgrade my existing computers. but maybe i will buy a new computer that comes with the new OS to see see play play, then decide what to do next.
ceecookie SG well it can be downloaded but there’s another problem…..the windowblinds shareware cannot open it…i click open it..it just highlight another skin…who can help?
abao SG open the windowsblinds config. select the "install skin from disk" choose the file u wan (in this example : C:\...\Longhorn5203WBv14) then click apply. think this should do it.
abao SG well... its up to u whether u wan to us the skin or not. Note that Windowsblinds uses 500k+ of ur ram and up to 50Mb in page file, so it boils down to whether u wan a nicer look or a slightly faster comp.
ceecookie SG Im using the Vista's skin but there's a problem with the icon that i cant tolerate anymore...u see the area surrounding the icon's name is blue which stand out against the nice greeny wallpaper while normal icon name's surrounding area is the wallpaper....the picture below show my icon and the normal ppl's icon my icon above normal icon I wonder why FI ask me to post here...its a problem not related to the vista wat...b4 i use the skin alreadi have....
abao SG go to control panel > system > advanced > performance settings > use drop shadows for your desktop icons. Tick this. Or u can tick the best appearance setting if u want the best look (uses more ram)
