BEfore or After CNY (car purchase)

That’s an odd question to ask. I guess place an order for a car when you have the money! So if you have money b4 CNY, just do it.

Actually, I think its a very valid question to ask. I heard some rumours that COE prices might fall esp. after CNY. And that in the long term, govt. is trying to make car purchase more affordable, but car ownership more costly, if you know what I mean. So, it makes perfect sense to time your purchase

Well, I don’t know much about CNY stuff like that. But I know you should buy your car at the end of the month. Rumour that the salesman has a quota to make every month, so they will throw in a lot of bargain to meet the quota at the end of the month.

Yeah its true that they have a quota to meet. At MM, they have a point system whereby selling a bigger car will gain the SE more points. So at the end of the point, they have to reach a certain number of points.

does it mean that end of DEc or end of Jan. what kind of goodies SE will give?

I was thinking that COE will be cheaper after CNY so the car price may drop....

Some months back, the papers reported that the LTA is gonna release more COEs from 3rd quarter of 2004... this is supposed to last till 1st or 2nd quarter 2005..

Which means a good guess will be March 2005..

Does it mean that we shld go in and buy before mar 2005??

On the other hand, will the government consider and lower upfront car taxes in the year 2005??

If so, what will the impact be like to COE and / or car prices??
