newmanmback SG http://computer.howstuffworks.com/home-network.htm Hope the above helps. and you need something like this so that all your home pc is connected to the input ports and only 1 output port is cabled to the house telephone roxette. thus all i/o signals shall be controlled (like traffic control and directing) at the hardware and distributed to various pc stations in your home 9if any more than 1). i think you are using a modem with one ethernet port and 1 usb port thinking that it can serve multpiple log ins but pls read your user manual - the answer may be no. still i hope u can provide details of your pc and modem and internet subscription plan details and hardware configurations. btw if u using one internet account and try to log in with multiple pcs, beware if yr seervice provider catch u doing that may be fined or sued! (i.e use one pc with one modem connected to a telephone roxette on the wall and log in to internet, use another pc in another room connected to a modem and to internet with the same log in through a seaparate telephone roxette)
ceecookie SG also will my internet speed be affected if one person surf internet while i play Xbox Live(Both one modem)?
newmanmback SG depend on your subscribed bandwidth limit...if 1500k unlimited cable i think most probably will not be affaected.....such plans are for massive downlaods and online movie watch stuff....gaming wouldn't take up bandwidth...only ping and pc/ gaming hardware matters in gaming performances responses and graphics
newmanmback SG i still feel that the thread starter should start checking his internet configuration settings or connect a hub/ switch to the router for home networking and simultaneous connection to the internet
wonderamazement SG Zonealarm…no same ip lah…anyways how to find out how much HD space i have left in Windows XP Home??
Nelstar SG I did not understand you previously owned 1 pc. The problem is I don't even know what modem/router/hub or what you used to connect the two pcs to the Internet.
Nelstar SG You can't use both pcs on a modem. It's understood that a modem, translates rubbish into information and information into rubbish only for one computer. Being able to support both type of connection does not mean being able to scramble two things at once.
Nelstar SG Yes, it's the firewall near your brain. It's blocking important information that you need to your brain.
Nelstar SG Just in case smart alecs quote my post and start comparing how theirs can work. Router modems are not just modems. They are modems with routing capability. And a modem that supports both Ethernet and USB does not mean that modem is a router modem.
ShutterBug SG If you are using Starhub - get a Linksys router. If you're using SingNet - check with SingNet for which router they support. If with router still don't work, then you either have a virus problem, or your firewall setting is blocking your connection.
Nelstar SG Her firewall has nothing to do. Zonealarm does nothing. Ok, the firewall to her brain is doing a lot though.
wonderamazement SG Ok i just got this figured out…..when both of my pc’s are turned on and running, one of them cannot access the net and while the first to be switched on is able to…so what’s the problem??
newmanmback SG why dun u tell us which pc connected to the usb port of your modem which pc connected to the ethernet port? if so then your ethernet can only accept either a usb connection or an ethernet connection at any one time please
Nelstar SG Ok I just got this figured out.. when I repeatedly tell the truth, the truth cannot go through wonderamazement's head and while the crap is able to. So the problem lies with wonderamazement himself.
