Well its always good to know how to actually do it. If your going to have to use that function you should at least know how it works, rather than doing it blindly.

I mean whats the point of forever pressing the square root button if you don't even know how to work it out? Just the same as the + - * / tan sin cos function. You should at least know how it works.

Easy lah.

Just "break" the number down into prime numbers.

For example, 100.

100 = 2 X 2 X 5 X 5
= 2^2 X 5^2

sqrt of 100 = 2 X 5
= 10

Much more tedious, but as long as you understand prime numbers and what a square root will do, you can easily square root a number (square number) without a calculator.

Other numbers that are not square I don't know how to do. There is a complex method, which I don't understand.

The same goes for cube root and whatever root you are given.

If your talking about the function square root, unless your in pri school, anyone should know how it works. There probably isn't really any real methods to solving it, but people still know how the function works.

If your talking about how the button works, I specifically mentioned the word 'function', don't go on technicalities.
