macjoe SG Pay is very good but high chance of getting some form of permanent physical disability. If can, dont be commando or guards.
Acerguy_007 SG 2500 i think is for regulars one For NS guys hope it is around 700 plus if more i don't mind As for injuries i think i will train hard before i go in to avoid injuries and also i will be extra careful during the trainings Someone has to be chosen for commando and guess thats my destiny

onefour02 SG what i heard recruit and private 300+ corporal 690+- one year corporal 730+- 3rd sgt 860+- one year 3rd sgt 890+- i might be wrong about private pay.. could be near 600.. cant rem clearly...
onefour02 SG this is roughly how fast you get ur pay rise for 3sg during 2.5yr service. now service cut to 2yrs shld get pay rise faster. (nsf) 2+ mths recruit pay 2+ mths private pay 2+ mths corporal pay after those 6 or 7 months.. 3sg get 860.. after 1yr as a 3sg.. get 890 until ord
onefour02 SG i think other units higher risk. commandos do not operate vehicles and tanks or etc etc.. less risk.
onefour02 SG yar u dont need to worry. u will be well taken care of. they are very concerned about safety. u sound happy to be choosen to be commando.. but i think when you see guard duty list u sian diao liao..
newmanmback SG if u intend to go commando as a sign on regular...first have to go through BMT and spec ttraining...paid during BMT will be much higher than NSFs and comparable with the private sector depending on your educational level. http://www.mindef.gov.sg/arc/specialist/spe_2400.html u cannot choose to be a commando. only after spec training will the selection go to see if you have the physical requirements and qualities or leadership to be with the reds. check my URL and see the contract schemes and salary scale FYI. as for vocation...if u in combat and want to be commando u hav to work for it...sometimes things may not go your way but sniper, ranger, guards are also soldiers and they too play an important role in our island's security...why not also consider other options? if u r an NSF and not signing on...forget the salary...serve and get out
Acerguy_007 SG I am still quite confused. I don't know whether to sign on anot, pay is the main factor i am concern with.. ok i am going in next year how much will i get for basic military training? 300 plus? once i got the red beret how much will i receive?
Acerguy_007 SG A question Can i sign on after i complete my uni education? Or signing on requires you to forgo your uni education and continue serving as regulars?
