You said "Is it? Can you please provide an account of in
what environment and by whom the present books of the bible were
written?" You're asking for the stars and moon? I did not
say you said you wanted to discuss a certain book. I said
"If there is any book you want to discuss, just say
so"
According to the Muslims, the Quran was indeed written by the
illiterate Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) dictated by the angel Gabriel.
Not I say one. Is they say one. I am just paraphrasing their
belief.
Note that the Quran is one book divided into many chapters but all
written by the same [illiterate] author. The Bible consists of 66
books written not by the same authors in different time and place.
You are asking for the stars and moon again. You want me to squeeze
66 formulae into one formula?
No. I have never said "Jesus is..." or "Jesus isn't" I try to be
as careful with my words as possible....to accurately reflect what
I am trying to communicate.
First you tell me what verse Jesus says "I am God," and then I
think the answer should be self-evident.
You said "And Jesus never said he was God either. The original
translation was Light." So arent you trying to suggest Jesus wasnt
God as claimed by the Christians?
Jesus indeed never said "I am God" literally. He used other labels
which were enough to implicate him in a blasphemy charge.
Is that the idea that the ____________(insert your version)
version of the Bible is 100% the "word of God" and therefore the
utmost truth...Is flawed. Everyone, including all different sects
(cant recall the proper name - protestants, catholics, etc. the
word of distinction) of Christianity have all agreed that the Bible
has been editted and changed many times since its inception
I sniff a strawman. Who said the Bible is 100% the word of God
and utmost truth? Utmost truth for what?
Yes...And you walked right into it didn't you?
So this canonization....hmmmm....This serves to re-inforce what I
am saying...
Not to mention it was definitely not the last time the books were
fiddled with...
And quit mincing words. I was replying to you, as you were using
the terminology Old Testament. Whatever you meant by it, is the
same thing I mean...Even the torah and the other books of the
jewish faith have been altered throughout the years...
I may have missed the slip even though I'm a careful person. But
you could be mistaken also. Show me the slip?
Please re-state the point that you are saying is clear - I'm not
following you here.
However your reference to the Tanakh....Yes....The majority of what
is in there is not in the Bible...Are you familiar with it? For a
superficial understanding, see it in the Wiki at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanakh. They list some basic
differences, but a lot of the differences have to do with the
specific content of the books, and the fact that they were mainly
written in Aramaic, as was much of the old Bible.
Yea .. I'm familiar with the Tanakh. I do have some basic
knowledge of Jewish theology and their scriptural interpretation. I
scanned the wiki. What's the majority in there not in the Bible?
Don't shock me. Written in Aramaic .. hmm so what and what's the
point here?
You said "There were no Christians at the time of the OT, and the
OT that was around were also many different books, some of which
are definitely no longer included in the Bible. "
You were unclear about the Scripture to begin with. My point is if
you look at a modern Hebrew Bible, it has all the books in the
Christian OT.
Ah....But the ones who do understand it properly? Is that due to
God? If so, then which is it - did he or did he not give them to
his believers?
Christians have different opinion about this issue. For me, I
buy the Calvinist stand on this issue.
