how and when to turn?

Hi,

I am just learning to drive in one of the driving schools. After my second lesson, I realised that I still can't gauge when to start turning when negotiating turns especially sharp bends. My instructor keep telling me to look ahead .. but I don't exactly understand this concept, where do I look when I am trying to turn? It's either I turn too early, too late, understeer, oversteer ... sigh! To those experience drivers ... please help!!!

must have the feeling de… hard to tell u cos turning timing differs from speed.. u practice more lesson will get it le dun worry… thats wat the lessons are for,

while you are driving, move to 2nd gear and look at the front left-corner for your screen for the corner lane. upon reaching the corner lane, start to turn slowing... Very Happy

once you turn to the position you want, return the wheel back.

for honda civic, which i learned in, usually for 90 degree turn, u start turning when the corner is around the halfway mark of your front door.

dont be too anxious! you are only at your second lesson!

anyway i usually start turning when my side mirror reaches the turning point. that is for sharper bends. for curves, just follow what your instructor said - look ahead, and turn your steering accordingly. of course, slow down if you are not that confident in handling turns.

Most sedan, i think start when reaching 1/3 of the car. That is somewhere near the side mirrors. Must look forward also so u know when to stop steering if not u make u turn liao..hahaha... Laughing

keep your eyeline in the centre of the lane.

refer to the advance theory book, notice the view(windscreen) drawn on the pictures and the position of the cars and curbs... though not drawn to scale, it's quite helpful if you need it to visualise... Laughing
