Some of you might have heard of this big name in the car rental
industry located at Bt Batok WCEGA building.
They are famous for cheap car rental (though now not really the
case). I have been their customer since they first started up at
Bendemeer Road in 2007. In the past, whenever the renter gets
summons, the company will just furnish driver particulars and the
summon will be sent to renter home address.
Now, they will collect a $100 deposit everytime you rent a car.
Whenever you return the car if there is a summon, they will deduct
the amount from the deposit and you have to top up if your summon
amount exceeds the deposit.
I remembered on a few occasions, I tried to negotiate to take
back my deposit in full. I had a summon of $50 for overnight
parking without coupon. The malay staff argued with me saying
company policy. I called their office earlier on and the admin girl
agreed to let me appeal and pay on my own. Offence is under my name
anyway. What is wrong? The malay guy handling the operations, when
I return car, refuse to return my deposit and shout at me “I call
the shots here! who you think you are? I ask you pay you just pay!
So that was the last time I rented from them.
Their policy: if you want to appeal, you can appeal but only
after successful, they return the summon amount that they deduct
from your deposit. But why am I so sceptical is because this is not
written down in the agreement. What if they don’t return my
money?
What is the problem of me doing appeal myself? whether or not
the summon they just need to send to me furnish my particulars
that’s all. If I never pay the court will charge me and not them. I
feel this way is much safer for myself.
I don’t know how you all think but I won’t ever go back to them
anymore. Poor maintenance of car + $100 deposit + poor service.
