Long time never used will spoil?

Will be going abroad soon and my com will probably be in an unused state for a really long time... Will the hardware inside spoil just because i dont on the com for like a year? Any of you in the same situation b4? Maybe i should pass it to my cousin and ask him to on it a few other days... Com experts please advice me...

might as well sell it...its going to be an old machine by the time U come back and U wouldnt be happy using it(assuming it can still work then)...so end the pain now...sell it and buy another one when U come back...
