I agree fully with Mr Mike Wong Kee Meng that we should ban
Singapore Pool from the HDB heartland (ST Nov 11). Why not site the
betting outlets in shopping malls instead?
Imagine our children being exposed to the bad habits right in front
of our doorsteps. I am living on the second level of a HDB block
right across a Singapore Pool outlet.
And the worst has happened. It even stays open on certain nights.
The gamblers would assemble at the void area just below our block,
smoking and sharing loudly their betting pointers amongst
themselves.
This is causing a great nuisance to us and our neighbours who have
children at home. Yes, it seems that the government does not think
this is a serious problem right inside our heartland.
