$12,800 for 13 yr old car?

I was going thru the classified, there were offers for second hand re-newed COE cars. I just couldn't believe the price stated. $200-300 per month for 7 yrs. Normal prevailing COE already cost about 20+K, aren't they selling the car below value? I thought it is a gimmick but when I call, I asked if there is any hidden cost or catch; None.

I know bcos new cars are selling cheap and it is affecting the second car dealers. But is it possible that they are willing to sell that low?

I hope someone can clear my doubts.

They just want to lurer you down to look at their car, after calculating this and that, you will be ask to pay around 500 per month.. Very Happy

I heard from my friend the $12,800 is actually the car body price. This amount is excluding the price of the remaining COE value of the car…. Dun know how true but makes sense else those dealers eat what?

was wif my fren at starbuck n my fren was looking at the
classified of cars n see those $12000 civics for sale...
i told him all these r gimmicks but he dun think so...as
my fren intend to change car so we headed down there to see...
we look at those cars at the MSCP n they hav a tag on each car
dat puts $500+/mth wif phone num...my fren felt cheated n decided
to call the num...initially,the dealer say they r selling at $12000
n mthly $100++....den my fren ask him y the carpark tag put $500+...
den the dealer say its actually a trick...my fren ask him wats the
asking price...den he say $33000...wtf is this.... Evil or Very Mad

Tot is was a great deal to get a 93 Mitsubishi Colt at $12.8K with $188 monthly for 6 years with other stuff.
So its bluff one ah?

hi guys, nice to see this discussion on 2nd hand cars, so in actually fact, its quite impossible to find a car thats within a monthly budget of 250-300??? was also of thinking of getting one in the near future to assist me in my work... Sad hope some experts do come in here to advice or are there any good companies to recommend... thanks.

sometimes, i wish people can really use their common sense lah .....by simple calculation --> lets say PQP @ $20,000. absolute paper value is $14,000 for 7 years, so how can the selling price be lower than that ??..... and for eg. if one day someone comes across a offer(be it automotives or other products) that is too good to be true, 99% is fake one, otherwise it comes with terms & conditions etc ................ Wink so lets dun play into such errant retailers/businesses tricks and boycott them or even spreading the word around ................. really dun understand why the 2nd hand dealers are still so YA-YA PAPAYA !!! Twisted Evil They're all crooks!!! Not just secondhand dealers either; Take Mazda for example. How many times have you heard on the radio, "Mazda 2... No downpayment, only $300 a month!!!" Very Happy

What they don't tell you is that it's only $300 for the first year, then it goes up to $800+ from the second year.

...of course once at the showroom, they'll tell you that you should know what! Not possible for no money down and only $300 a month! Same stupid tactics they'll all use. Make it seem that it's your own fault that you actually trusted their advertistments.

dude some of the prices quoted are only 70% of the actual selling price of the car. Cos 70% is all u can get for a car loan for certain financing companies. To get a real idea of wat is close to the actual price, just do a simple calculation. Divide by 7 and multiply by 10.

% of loan available...even for $200-$300,i dun think even a 30% down
can let u pay so little each mth...
but if u read my post above on the incident i xperienced,
they did not say its base on certain % of loan....

Selling $12,800? No...Its $32,800...plus $300 processing fee...that makes $33,100...cheebye...
