sohguanh SG

Times have really changed indeed. Nowadays ppl talk abt GB man....... where were those days when MB were the rage? Now I seriously wonder why need so many diskspace? Store pics, videos, movies, games and all other graphics intensive stuff I guess. So wat used to be the domain of corporate entities are now easily available to home users. Technology moves rapidly indeed Mr. Green

External Harddrive conected to PC by USB rite? Is it the same as portable harddrive?

FireIce SG

u can buy ur own hdd + casing
or u can get those tt come together, like iomega, seagate...

sohguanh SG

u can buy ur own hdd + casing

Well if thumbdrive technology improve further, I think it will soon make external harddisk obsolete. Imagine 30GB of diskspace squeeze into a thumb drive cool huh? Mr. Green

Hi, i may be interested... can tell me where you get it?

mistyblue SG

I hate to go Sim Lim cause the people super rude. Go Funan

SilverPal SG

Woah... I got mine 1 year back, 40GB, $200. Super slim and USB 2.0.

Its quite good since I dun have a CD burner and i need to store large files for my assignments and projects.

Its also great for backing up my friends' impt data when helping them troubleshoot their comp.

SilverPal SG

It takes an ah beng to handle another ah beng... Next time they give you a hard time, tell uncle sil... I 'll show them a thing or 2... Wink

On a more serious note, the bengs at sim lim only like to handle ppl who know what they want. And it helps to be technical savvy too. If you duno what you want and are not very good with IT, they tend to be rude and abrupt with you. I'm used to it... Cos i always tell them i'm a computer idiot... Mr. Green

mistyblue SG

I don't have a computer so I needed a online storage for keeping my stuff... Very Happy and other things Wink Wink

Well it does not matter. I'm in IT all my life but I deal with server class/enterprise servers. I find PCs/servers are just tools. Hence nothing to get arrogant about. What my company sells is in 10K to a couple of millions. I am technical but lost touch with PCs some time already.

If they don't have the time of day for me, then I would not bother loh. Cause I can always bring my money elsewhere even if I pay premium for just the service and to be educated on the spot about IT products and range available for my needs. If I am humble enough to ask and learn, then if the person decides to be rude. Then its too bad. They lost the opportunity to make me a recurring customer. Ultimately its their loss. Just like this place I bought the HDD from, I've just intro someone to go ther. Hence they are going to get more business.

SilverPal SG

Wow, you IT ppl are sooo cool...

The service quality in sg is really quite dismal. I do agree with you that we shouldn't pay to get snubbed.

I wanna learn about servers and the such. Maybe next time i pai ni wei shi...

stellazio SG

duno leh but i heard seagate not good.. Laughing
